HigherPowered was embarked upon by James "Jim" Sheffer in 1996. He began the web site design business from his knowledge of graphics and a drive to learn HTML, then assist several friends in their quest to have an on-line business. By 1997, mainly due to "word of mouth" advertising HigherPowered had grown by leaps and bounds. Jim decided in order to provide his clients with a "full-circle" of services, he needed to host the clients sites as well. Out of that desire to assist clients further, "HigherPowered Hosting" was born. Lasso was already the software used to integrate e-commerce and datebases to the clients sites. Jim was using Lasso in his own business, and in 2001 due to his knowledge and use of the product, he was hired by Omni-Pilot (formerly BlueWorld, the company that developed Lasso software.
